Frequently Asked Questions
General
How do I report a bug? Email oday@saltserv.com with a description of the issue, the app name and version, and your device/OS version. Screenshots or screen recordings help a lot.
How do I request a feature? Email me with the suggestion. I’ll consider it for future updates.
Where can I find release notes? Check the blog for write-ups on major releases, or the version history in the App Store or Play Store for each app.
App-Specific Support
Cura (iOS and Android)
A mobile SSH client and Linux server monitor. See the full write-up.
- Download: App Store · Google Play
- Requirements: iOS 16+ or Android 8.0+ (API 26+), plus SSH access to the server you’re connecting to
- Common issues: Connection refused → check that your firewall allows the SSH port and that the server is reachable from your phone’s network. Authentication failed → verify the username, password, or SSH key matches the server.
Booksum (Android)
An Android book scanner with OCR, AI summaries, and flashcards. See the full write-up.
- Download: Google Play
- Requirements: Android 7.0+ (API 24), camera access for page scanning
- Common issues: OCR text looks wrong → improve lighting and make sure the page is flat and roughly framed. ISBN scan fails → some older books don’t have barcodes; add the book manually.
ADB Remote (macOS)
A native macOS GUI for ADB, logcat, Gradle, and Android device management. See the full write-up.
- Download: Gumroad
- Requirements: macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later, Android SDK with
adbin your PATH, Java 17+ (bundled in the DMG) - Common issues: Device not detected → enable USB debugging on the Android device and authorize the connection prompt. ADB not found → either install Android SDK Platform Tools, or let ADB Remote use its bundled version.
Review Radar (web)
A web app that pulls Play Store reviews and uses Claude to rank what users are complaining about. See the full write-up.
Textrix (iOS)
An iOS text utility for paraphrasing in 30 languages, summarising long passages, and extracting text from PDFs. See the full write-up.
- Download: App Store
- Requirements: iOS 16+
- Common issues: Rephrase or summary fails → check your internet connection (the AI call needs network). PDF won’t extract text → the PDF likely has scanned images rather than a text layer; Textrix uses PDFKit which needs real text.
GotIt (iOS)
An iOS reminder app that pings you before you leave your stuff behind. See the full write-up.
- Download: App Store
- Requirements: iOS 16+, “Always” location permission for background detection, notification permission
- Common issues: No reminders firing → check that “Always” location is granted in Settings → GotIt → Location, and that notifications aren’t muted. Detection feels off in a specific place → add that location as a saved zone for reliable triggering.
Privacy and Data
I take privacy seriously, and the apps are built around the principle of doing as much locally as possible:
- No personal data collection unless explicitly required for a feature
- No data sales to third parties, ever
- Anonymized analytics when used, purely to improve the app
- Local processing for most things — OCR, server stats, SSH credentials, and location data stay on your device
Quick Privacy Facts
| Aspect | Practice |
|---|---|
| Data collection | Minimal to none |
| Data sharing | Never with third parties |
| Tracking | No cross-app or cross-site tracking |
| Ads | No advertising in the apps |

Refunds
For purchases made through the App Store or Mac App Store, refund requests are handled by Apple. You can request a refund through Apple’s Report a Problem page.
For Google Play purchases, request refunds through the Play Store refund policy.
For Gumroad purchases (ADB Remote), email me and we’ll sort it out.
